Nicole M. Baran

Nicole M. Baran is assistant professor of biology at Davidson College. She is a behavioral neuroendocrinologist with an active research program, in which she and her undergraduate students study the evolution and development of pair bonding, parental care and vocal learning in songbirds. She also teaches introductory biology, biostatistics and comparative neuroendocrinology, among other topics.

She earned her B.A. at the University of Chicago and her Ph.D. in behavioral and evolutionary neuroscience at Cornell University. She completed her postdoctoral training at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she was an NIH NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow, and at Emory University. She has also written for the Bitter Southerner, Nautilus and Scientific American.
