John Shook is associate professor of philosophy at Bowie State University. He also teaches in the graduate Liberal Studies program at Georgetown University. He studies science and naturalism; pragmatism; and intersections of technology, ethics and policy, and has written more than 20 books and 100 journal articles and chapters.
Shook was a professor at Oklahoma State University and the University at Buffalo before moving to Washington, D.C., as a visiting fellow in the Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy at George Mason University and an associate fellow in the Center for Neurotechnology Studies at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies. His latest book, co-authored with James Giordano, is “Bioethics and Brains: A Disciplined and Principled Neuroethics,” slated to be published in 2025.
