Andrew Jahn is an assistant research scientist and neuroimaging consultant at the University of Michigan, teaching neuroimaging analysis, functional and structural connectivity, machine learning and other topics related to cognitive neuroscience. He has hosted neuroimaging workshops at several research institutions across the United States, including the University of Washington, Michigan State University, Ohio State University, Harvard University and others. His research focuses on the role of prediction within the medial prefrontal cortex and how this applies to domains such as pain, cognitive control and linguistic processing.
His YouTube channel hosts more than 300 videos about neuroimaging analysis, connectivity, E-Prime and other topics related to cognitive neuroscience. As of 2025, his YouTube channel has 18,000 subscribers and more than 4 million views. His latest project is Andy’s Brain Book (https://andysbrainbook.readthedocs.io/en/latest), a systematic guide for teaching new graduate students and research assistants how to analyze functional MRI data.
Jahn received his B.A. from Carleton College and his Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience from Indiana University. After completing his postdoctoral fellowship at Haskins Laboratories in New Haven, Connecticut, he began his current job at the University of Michigan.
